In our first article, we mentioned several easy-to-find anti-aging “superfoods,” and offered a few tips on how to incorporate these foods into your diet.
Previously, we focused primarily on fruits, but the key to a successful anti-aging diet is to find a balance of food types that can work together to boost your anti-aging success! Essentially, the more varied the colors on your plate and the less processed your food, the better for you it will be!
For centuries, the ancient civilizations bordering the Mediterranean Sea (most notably, Greece) have experienced lower rates of heart disease and various types of cancer. Researchers have concluded time and time again that their consumption of olive oil, and their respect for it as an anti-aging product used as a food or medicine, is the primary reason for lower rates of heart disease and cancer in this part of the world. Olive oil is rich in antioxidants (like Vitamin E and Polyphenols*) and helps promote a smooth, radiant complexion. Consumption of olive oil has also been linked to increased skin elasticity and helps to repair dry, brittle nails and rough cuticles. Olive oil may even help lower your bad cholesterol, when used in place of fattening butter or shortening.
The easiest way to increase your consumption of olive oil is to substitute your butter or shortening with it! Otherwise, olive oil makes a great salad dressing, when combined with balsamic vinegar. It may also be used with a generous amount of freshly-ground black pepper as a tasty dip for fresh whole-wheat bread. Please do note that there are several varieties of olive oil and “Extra Virgin Olive Oil” is the best, as it is less processed.
(*Our MFIII PE Advanced Formula Softgels also contain Polyphenols, in the form of Pomegranate Extract!)
Honey has been used as an anti-aging weapon for centuries, by various cultures around the world, and is often found in many anti-aging products. Honey contains powerful antioxidants, Vitamins B6 and C, Thiamin, Niacin, Riboflavin, and Calcium, among a long list of 180 total beneficial minerals and amino acids. Natural bee’s honey has antibiotic properties and antihistamines that can boost your immune system, helping to fight the effects of aging as thoroughly and naturally as possible. Honey has also been known to assist in an overall better quality of sleep and aids in fighting cholesterol levels, hair loss, and arthritis, which are all symptoms of aging.
To add more honey to your diet, add a bit to a glass of milk, coffee, or tea. A slice of whole wheat bread spread with honey makes a great dessert and certain fruits (like banana) are tasty when dipped in honey!
Garlic is another powerful food to be used in the fight against bad cholesterol, cancer and heart disease. Garlic assists in removing heavy metals from the body and acts as an anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-viral agent. It also contains Vitamins A, B, and C, as well as Selenium, Iodine, Potassium, Iron, Calcium, Zinc, and Magnesium. All of these benefits may help with anti-aging and assist in building a stronger immune system!
Garlic is best consumed raw. You may “take” one clove of garlic with a glass of water, the same way you would an MFIII capsule. (In fact, a morning routine of one MFIII capsule and one garlic clove would do wonders for your anti-aging regimen!) Garlic is also great chopped and used as a condiment on various foods. It is an excellent topping for most pasta dishes and dips (such as hummus).
Nuts and seeds include a wide variety of foods - such as walnuts, cashews, Brazil nuts, macadamias, pistachios, pumpkin seeds, almonds, and pecans, among others. These foods are protein-packed, brain-healthy “superfoods” that may reverse the visual signs of aging on your skin, promoting a healthy, younger-looking glow. These sources of Omega-3 fatty acids and monosaturated fats also contain various vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals, with substantial antioxidant power. All of these nutrients assist in the anti-aging process and will play a key role in keeping your cardiovascular system and bone density in top condition, increasing your overall lifespan. Nuts and seeds are also high in fiber and assist in fighting free radicals that cause disease and aging. They also work against skin inflammation and bacteria and may, therefore, help treat skin disorders like acne, psoriasis, and eczema. These anti-aging “superfoods” are also a cholesterol-fighter!
A handful of mixed raw nuts and seeds is all that is required per day to begin experiencing the powerful benefits of this “superfood.” Alternatively, nut butters (such as cashew butter or sunflower seed butter) are great to spread on whole-grain crackers for a quick, heart-healthy snack. Nuts and seeds are also a fantastic protein-rich addition to any salad.
When combining a diet of the above anti-aging “superfoods” with a daily routine of MFIII capsules and MFIII Bluecell Skin Gel, we are certain you will see an incredible overall change in your quality of life, from the inside, out.
